Susman Godfrey Honored by the American Antitrust Institute for the Fourth Year in a Row

Susman Godfrey and ten of the firm’s lawyers have been named honorees by the American Antitrust Institute (AAI) as part of its 2019 Antitrust Enforcement Awards.  This is the fourth year in a row the firm and its lawyers have been recognized by AAI, with 2019 honoring the most lawyers from the firm to date.

Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement by a Young Lawyer

This year, three of the firm’s associates were awarded Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement by a Young Lawyer. Geng Chen and Michael Kelso of the firm’s New York and Houston office respectively were recognized for their work on the multi-million-dollar class action, In re Libor-based Financial Instruments Antitrust Litigation, where over $590 million in settlements have been reached to date with defendant banks Barclays, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank and HSBC.  Additionally, Ian Gore of the firm’s Seattle office has been recognized for his work on In re Dental Supplies Antitrust Litigation where, in 2018, the team from Susman Godfrey secured a settlement valued at $80 million for the class they represent.

Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement in Private Law Practice

In addition to the young lawyers listed above, the team from In re: Automotive Parts Antitrust Litigation have been recognized with the Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement in Private Law Practice award.  These lawyers, led by Marc Seltzer,  include Steven Shepard, Steven Sklaver, Floyd Short, Jenna Farleigh, Chanler Langham, and Terry Oxford.  The team has secured over $1.2 billion dollars in settlements thus far for the U.S. consumers and businesses they represent. The cumulative settlement figure in the case now stands as one of the largest amounts that indirect purchaser “end payors”—the ultimate purchasers of a price-fixed product—have ever recovered in a U.S. antitrust lawsuit.

The team from Susman Godfrey will be recognized at the Antitrust Enforcement Awards Dinner on November 12, 2019. Prior to the dinner, AAI will be holding a conference where Kalpana Srinivasan will be one of the guest speakers on the, “Can Private Litigation Address Digital Dominance?” panel.  In addition, honoree, Geng Chen, will be speaking at the Young Lawyers breakfast.
