Susman Godfrey Partner Shawn Raymond, Wife Alicia Raymond Named Houston Area Women’s Center’s Community Volunteers of the Year

HOUSTON (April 28, 2016) —  Susman Godfrey partner Shawn Raymond and his wife Alicia Raymond have been named the Houston Area Women’s Center’s Community Volunteers of the Year. The distinction recognizes individuals who have made an impact at the non-profit: a center that helps individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence move their lives forward.

Shawn’s brief stay in a domestic violence shelter as a youth helped shaped his own commitment to the mission of the Women’s Center. He has volunteered with the nonprofit for the past 12 years in various capacities, including on its board of directors. He served as board chair from 2009-2011, becoming the second man in the history of the board to hold the position. Shawn has dedicated over 1,000 volunteer hours to the Houston Area Women’s Center over the past decade.

Alicia’s dedication to the Women’s Center shines through her volunteer work with the center’s hotline: a commitment she held for three years.

“I have known and worked with many talented and dedicated volunteers and leaders in my 25-plus years as a non-profit manager,” said Rebecca White, CEO, Houston Area Women’s Center. “None exceed Shawn and Alicia in commitment, empathy, intelligence, collaborative spirit, innovation and ability to get things done. If impact is what you seek, the Raymonds are outstanding allies.”

The Raymonds will be honored during a special presentation at the non-profit’s Spring Gala April 29. The Spring Gala is co-chaired by fellow Susman Godfrey partner, Joseph Grinstein, and his wife, Amy Grinstein.
