Two Susman Godfrey Cases Nab Spots on National Law Journal’s Top 2018 Verdicts

Susman Godfrey’s $706 million  HouseCanary win takes 4th highest spot, and  $25 million win against Beats ranks 91st

Two blockbuster trial wins in 2018 place Susman Godfrey’s cases among the National Law Journal’s annual Top 100 Verdicts of the Year List.  In Title Source Inc. v. House Canary, Susman Godfrey secured a verdict of $706,200,000.00 in a trade secrets, breach of contract and fraud matter. The case, co-led by Max Tribble and Kalpana Srinivasan, ranks number 4 on the list.  Susman Godfrey’s victory in a patent infringement and breach of contract matter, Jibe Audio LLC et al. v. Beats, Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, for a verdict of $25,247,350.00 will appear at number 91.  The case against Beats was led by Brian Melton.

The House Canary matter will also rank among Texas Lawyer’s “Top Verdicts in Texas” for 2018.  The court entered final judgment of $740 million in the case after the added prejudgment interest, attorneys’ fees. Tribble and Srinivasan were joined on the matter by Matthew Behncke, Elisha Barron, and Rocco Magni.

The case against Beats, which will also secure a spot among The Recorder’s “Top 100 Verdicts in California” for 2018, recently received post-trial rulings on attorney fees, prejudgment interest, plus an ongoing royalty on the Studio 3 headphone that increased the judgment value to over $60 million.   Working alongside Melton on this matter were Stephen E. Morrissey, Chanler A. Langham, Davida Brook and Steven Seigel.
