Law Clerk to the Honorable Alia Moses, United States District Court for the Western District of Texas
Emi Lawson is a steadfast trial lawyer who represents both plaintiffs and defendants in Federal and State Courts across the nation. Having joined the firm in 2020, Emi has already made significant contributions to her cases.
For example, Emi is representing information and technology services company, Arendi, in several patent infringement matters pending in Delaware against defendants Google, Apple, LG, Motorola, Blackberry, Sony, Oath, and HTC. In her short time at the firm, Emi has taken and defended important expert depositions and drafted key motions, briefs, and mediation statements.
Emi is also representing Click-to-Call Technologies in a patent case in the Western District of Texas. The case is against Thryv Inc., a successor to Yellow Pages, over its infringing internet telephony technology. Emi will try the case in August 2021 in Judge Yeakel’s Court. She is heading up the team’s discovery efforts and has beaten back Thryv’s summary judgment motion.
Emi joined Susman Godfrey after clerking for Judge Alia Moses of the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. During her time at Columbia Law School, she served as Production Editor for the Columbia Journal of Gender and Law and as a judicial intern to Judge Daniel R. Dominguez of the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. She also pursued a dual degree program earning an LL.M. in International Taxation from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Emi received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, where she was captain of the women’s soccer team and earned National Scholar All-American and All Pac-12 First Team honors.
