Overview
Morgan McCollum litigates complex, high stakes matters in courtrooms across the United States. A versatile trial lawyer, she has litigated cases across a variety of high-stakes disputes, including the Investment Company Act, the New York False Claims Act, securities, breach of contract, and tort claims. Similarly, McCollum’s clients are diverse – she has represented large corporations, small businesses, and individuals. The common thread across all of McCollum’s cases is her relied-upon ability to understand and become an expert at the subject at hand, align herself with her client’s goals, and work tirelessly until they are achieved.
McCollum has taken and defended depositions and argued motions at every stage of litigation. As one recent example, in Total Asset Recovery Services v. MetLife, et al, a New York False Claims Act case against life insurance companies for their failure to timely escheat abandoned life insurance proceeds, McCollum prevailed in arguing against motions to dismiss brought by nine defendants. The case is now in discovery.
McCollum joined Susman Godfrey after clerking for Chief Judge Debra Ann Livingston on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and for Judge Lee H. Rosenthal on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Before clerking, she practiced litigation at a leading law firm in Washington, D.C.
McCollum graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif from New York University School of Law, where she served as an editor of the NYU Law Review. She received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Colgate University.
