William Merrill, Jr. began his legal career at Smyser Kaplan & Veselka, where he worked as a legal assistant for over two years on a wide array of commercial litigation and public interest matters.

William graduated from SMU Dedman School of Law. While pursuing his law degree, William worked as an intern for United States District Judge Charles R. Eskridge in the Southern District of Texas and aided Disability Rights Texas on several important cases involving children with disabilities.
