The Los Angeles Daily Journal has named Los Angeles Partners Amanda Bonn and Davida Brook among the 100 “Top Women Lawyers in California” for 2021. The annual list of Top Women Lawyers in California highlights “women lawyers who have made a difference to their clients, their firms, their profession.” The women named to the list are some of the most accomplished female attorneys in California, representing excellence in private practice, corporate counsel and public interest law.
Bonn handles some of the most groundbreaking and newsworthy litigation in California and across the nation. In 2020 she scored several landmark victories including obtaining settlements worth a combined $175 million for California and Nevada government entities against AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile in a whistleblower case challenging the wireless carriers’ billing practices, and, as lead appellate counsel and co-lead trial counsel, she obtained a widely-covered and precedent-setting insurance litigation win for an NBCU subsidiary, in a case that then settled on the eve of a trial. Bonn recently received nationwide press for her leadership in a putative class action challenging Google’s privacy practices concerning “Incognito” internet browsing, a case valued at billions of dollars. Before the same Court, she has been tapped to lead the defense of the world’s leading commodity trading firm Vitol Inc. in an antitrust case concerning California’s massive gasoline market. Previously recognized by Daily Journal as one of the Top 40 Under 40 Lawyers in California in 2018 and one of the Top Women Lawyers in California in 2017, Brook’s practice focuses on commercial litigation at every level. Recently, Brook has worked on some of the country’s most cutting edge, prominent cases. In 2021, working pro bono, Brook successfully represented Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs and Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers in separate lawsuits brought to try and prevent the counting of every legally cast vote in the 2020 presidential election. Two of the cases were dismissed after Brook and her team filed motions to dismiss. A third case, brought by President Trump, was dismissed following a bench trial in which Brook represented Governor Evers. Since then, Brook has filed some of the most widely covered cases in the nation, including the recently filed $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News on behalf of Dominion Voting Services, and two landmark cases against Mindgeek’s PornHub and Reddit over allegations of sex trafficking and child pornography.
