Partner Randy Wilson Has the Rare Distinction of Being Named to Both Lawdragon’s List of the Nation’s Leading Judges and Lawdragon’s List of the Nation’s Leading Lawyers

Wilson is Second Person Ever to Receive This Dual Honor

Texas partner and Judge, Randy Wilson, earned a rare distinction this month when Lawdragon included him in their annual Guide to Leading 500 Plaintiff Financial Lawyers. In addition to this honor, he was also named in 2006 by Lawdragon as one of the Nation’s leading judges.  He and former Del. CJ Myron Steele are the only two lawyers honored as both a lawyer and judge.

Wilson was an original partner of Susman Godfrey when the firm was founded in 1980 and left in 2003 to serve for 15 years as a Harris County District Judge.  In his first 23 years at Susman Godfrey, Wilson tried some of the largest cases in the country and was widely regarded as one of the top trial lawyers in the state.  He was Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.  Before Wilson took the bench in 2003, Chambers USA named him one of the Leading Commercial Litigators in America

In 2003, then Texas Governor Perry appointed Wilson to the 157th District Court in Harris County, to which he was re-elected several times and was widely regarded as one of the best judges in the state.  Judge Wilson was twice selected as Trial Judge of the Year by the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists.  He was also appointed to preside over multiple complex multi-district litigation matters and was appointed as a Justice of the Texas Supreme Court to preside over a securities case.

Wilson re-joined Susman Godfrey this year and has hit the ground running – he continues to litigate high-stakes and complex legal matters from the firm’s Houston office. He was named to Lawdragon’s Guide to Leading 500 Plaintiff Financial Lawyers just a few weeks ago.
