Susman Godfrey Names Two New Lawyers to its Partnership

Susman Godfrey has just named two new Partners to their ranks.  Houston-based Ashley McMillian and Ryan Caughey join the 63-person partnership effective January 1st, 2018.

McMillian has already made her mark on the Texas-based litigation boutique, most recently in Energy litigation, where she won a $43.2 million jury verdict for client Apache, in Apache Deepwater LLC v. W&T Offshore, Inc., and helped obtain an early summary judgment dismissing plaintiffs’ multi-hundred-million-dollar damage claim for client Hess Bakken, in Spring Creek Exploration & Production Company, LLC v. Hess Bakken Investment II, LLC.

Caughey has worked on significant matters at Susman Godfrey, recently for plaintiffs in Dial Corporation et al v. News Corporation where he represented a certified class of consumer packaged goods manufacturers, including Dial Corporation and Kraft Heinz Foods, pursuing monopolization claims against News Corporation and affiliated entities. Caughey’s work helped secure a $244 million settlement for the plaintiffs he represented. In 2017, Caughey successfully represented corporate plaintiffs in two complex jury trials, both of which resulted in multimillion-dollar verdicts for our clients.

Co-Managing Partner, Neal Manne, said “Ashley and Ryan are fantastic lawyers, and we are absolutely delighted to welcome them into the partnership.  They earned it.”

This announcement comes on the tail of the trial firm announcing market-breaking bonuses for its elite team of Associates, proving just how committed to retaining talent the firm is.
