Partners Davida Brook and Stephen Shackelford have been named by Law360 as 2023 “Media & Entertainment MVPs” — two of just six attorneys selected nationwide .
Named “MVPs” for their industry leading media & entertainment litigation, Brook and Shackelford served as co-lead counsel to Dominion Voting Systems in the past year and were instrumental in securing the historic $787.5 million settlement to resolve Dominion’s massive defamation suit against Fox, just before jury trial was to commence in Delaware Superior Court in April 2023.
Just a few weeks later Brook and Shackelford helped secure a $203 million win from Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of New York on behalf of New York hedge fund legend, Louis Bacon, in his high-profile defamation lawsuit against Canadian fashion magnate Peter Nygard. This is believed to be the highest defamation judgment in New York State history.
