The National Law Journal has named Houston Associate, Shawn Blackburn, among the 49 “Intellectual Property Trailblazers” in their third annual compilation industry leaders. The publication received hundreds of submissions for this honor.
This annual National Law Journal List describes the honorees as people who make their mark in various aspects of legal work in the areas of patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret law; each showing passion and determination in pursuit of their respective missions, having achieved significant success along the way.
In recognizing Blackburn, the National Law Journal notes his precedent-setting, noteworthy patent work. This includes a March 2016 win on behalf of Queens University against Samsung, which was the first-ever recognition of patent agent privilege from the federal circuit. Blackburn argued and won this legal battle before the federal circuit – a rare feat for any associate. Susman Godfrey was later honored with an Editor’s Choice Award by Managing IP for this win.
