Mewbourne goes two-for-two with Susman Godfrey
When Mewbourne Oil Company faced lawsuits relating to land ownership and poling proceedings in Oklahoma, it turned to Susman Godfrey. Susman Godfrey convinced the federal district court to dismiss Vista Exploration Company, L.L.C. v. Mewbourne Oil Co., No. 5:10-cv-00213-C (W.D. Okla.), because the plaintiff lacked standing to sue. And then Susman Godfrey obtained a dismissal of Optima Oil & Gas Company, LLC v. Mewbourne Oil Co., No. 5:09-cv-00145-C (W.D. Okla.), by demonstrating that the federal court lacked subject matter jurisdiction over the plaintiff claims. The results flowed from a collaboration between Mewbourne’s in-house counsel and Dallas partner Barry Barnett. Client and litigation counsel—a true partnership. Mewbourne’s Mike Shepard offered the his assessment: “Susman Godfrey provides excellent services efficiently, in an atmosphere of real teamwork. We are often amazed by the consummate skills of the younger partners and impressed by the centered wisdom of their mentors in guiding the blossoming of these exquisite lawyers.”
