Overview
Casen B. Ross is an experienced appellate litigator, bringing to bear rigorous legal analysis and creative legal solutions on behalf of his clients. He has practiced in federal courts across the country, with deep experience in administrative law and federal regulatory issues. Casen advises clients to develop litigation strategies consistent with legal precedent and that align with clients’ policy priorities.
Casen joined Susman Godfrey after serving for nearly a decade at the U.S. Department of Justice on the Civil Appellate Staff, representing federal agencies and the Executive Branch in high-profile constitutional and administrative law matters, and where he was repeatedly recognized by the Department for his advocacy. He has argued over three dozen cases in the federal courts of appeals—and briefed many more—defending federal statutes and complex regulatory policies. He also has significant experience with statutory interpretation and challenging agency rulemakings in many different industries—including national security, transportation, healthcare, and telecommunications. Casen has a particular expertise in working with clients to craft a successful litigation strategy that can prevail on appeal, with extensive experience in briefing cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. That expertise also makes him well placed to advise clients on litigation risks associated with government regulation and compliance.
Casen is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, where he earned a Juris Doctor; and the University of Colorado Boulder, where he earned degrees in Cello Performance, Economics, and French.
