Los Angeles Partners Rohit Nath, Nick Spear, Halley Josephs and Glenn Bridgman Recognized as ‘California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year’ by The Daily Journal

Los Angeles Partners Rohit Nath, Nick Spear, Halley Josephs and Glenn Bridgman have been recognized by The Daily Journal as “California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year” for their landmark pro bono work on behalf of tenant advocacy groups, Strategic Actions For a Just Economy (SAJE) and Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE), defending COVID-19 eviction protection and rent freeze ordinances in cities and counties across California, including Los Angeles, San Diego, and Oakland..

Thanks to the work done by Nath, Spear, Josephs and Bridgman, an estimated 800,000 tenants in California financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic have maintained their housing, which would have left them more vulnerable to the illness. Since 2020, the team has donated over 1,170 hours of pro bono work towards four cases in the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California over constitutional challenges to county and city eviction moratoriums in San Diego, Los Angeles, Alameda and Oakland.

The team’s ongoing work protects those most vulnerable to the enduring consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.  While the lawyers have secured victories at every turn in these cases the battles still continue in appellate courts or in additional trial proceedings.

The Daily Journal’s annual California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year (CLAY) Award recognizes lawyers licensed in California for achievements with a significant and meaningful impact on public policy, the law, the profession, or a particular practice area.
