New York Law Journal has named Susman Godfrey’s Bill Carmody a finalist for “Attorney of the Year” in its 2018 Professional Excellence awards. Attorney of the Year, the Law Journal’s MVP award, goes to the lawyer who “had the most profound effect on the law or legal community in the past year or did the most to advance the cause of justice.”
In the past 12 months, Carmody secured a judgment for GE worth $161 million in the breach of contract case, General Electric v. Nebraska Investment Finance Authority, before a federal jury in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He was also responsible for reaching significant milestones in the massive, consolidated antitrust proceeding over the LIBOR scandal, and he secured a highly favorable settlement for Uber Technologies Inc. in its nationally followed battle with Google/Waymo over self-driving car technology.
The winner of the “Attorney of the Year” recognition will be announced at the New York Law Journal’s upcoming Professional Excellence magazine and honored in October at the New York Legal Awards.
