Susman Godfrey has been named one of Law360’s Trials Practice Groups of the Year, recognizing the firm’s exceptional record of success in high-stakes litigation nationwide. The honor follows a year of headline victories, including a more than $970 million arbitration award for Everly Health in a contract dispute involving at-home COVID-19 test kits and a $1.6 billion judgment against China Construction America Inc. arising from the failed Baha Mar megaresort project in the Bahamas.
In Law360’s feature story, Los Angeles partner Krysta Pachman credited the firm’s trial-first mindset. “I think the biggest thing that differentiates us from other firms is that we are a trial firm, and so from day one, we’re litigating the case as if it’s going to trial,” Pachman said. “As attorneys, we love trying cases.”
New York Partner Jacob Buchdahl said Susman Godfrey is often called in when cases appear destined for the courtroom and is known for taking matters through trial. He pointed to the firm’s work for BML Properties in the Baha Mar litigation, where the team prevailed after an 11-day bench trial and secured a $1.6 billion judgment. “One of the hardest things to do under New York law is to pierce a corporate veil, and that was one of the features of that victory that our team was particularly happy about,” Buchdahl said.
The firm’s trial strength was also reflected in its representation of the City of Baltimore in opioid litigation against McKesson and AmerisourceBergen, where a jury awarded $266 million in 2024. Buchdahl said the firm was proud to be a part of the case given the toll of the opioid crisis.
The Law360 recognition underscores Susman Godfrey’s continued leadership as the nation’s premier trial boutique, known for preparing every case for the courtroom and delivering decisive results in the most complex disputes.
