The Los Angeles Daily Journal has named Los Angeles Associate Davida Brook and partner Kalpana Srinivasan among the 100 “Top Women Lawyers in California.”
The annual Daily Journal list of Top Women Lawyers in California, which has been running for over ten years, highlights “women lawyers who have made a difference to their clients, their firms, their profession.” The women named to the list are some of the most accomplished female attorneys in California today, representing excellence in private practice, corporate counsel and public interest law.
In recognizing Brook, The Daily Journal praised her work securing an appellate victory for Steven Lamar against Beats Electronics and music moguls Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine in September of last year. Brook received much media attention for this win and was profiled in Los Angeles legal publication The Recorder when, as a fourth year associate, she won an argument in the Court of Appeal of the State of California, Second District, who reversed a lower court ruling that granted a summary judgment in favor of Beats. This is an admired feat for any attorney and is especially remarkable of an lawyer so early in her profession.
Srinivasan receives this honor just a few weeks after being named a California Lawyer of the Year by The Daily Journal, a Trailblazer by The South Asian Bar Association and a Power Lawyer by The Hollywood Reporter. Srinivasan earned these accolades for her intellectual property and class action litigation experience, including her role as co-lead class counsel in a seminal class action against Sirius XM on behalf of the 70’s rock group The Turtles and a certified nationwide class of owners of pre-1972 sound recordings. That case settled 36 hours before trial in a settlement valued by the Court on final approval to be worth up to $73 million.
