Ophelia Camiña Named Trial Lawyer of the Year by Dallas Bar Association

Partner Ophelia Camiña has been recognized as Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Dallas Bar Association.

With Susman Godfrey since 1989 and a partner since 1991, Ophelia has secured some of the most notable legal wins in firm history. This includes a $239M jury verdict for department store Dillard’s after a bet-the-company fraud, breach of contract, and breach of warranty trial, a hard-fought $15M jury verdict for software maker GlobeRanger over a trade secret dispute, and defeating claims seeking $500 million in damages against her client under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Dallas Bar Association’s profile of Ophelia discusses her coming up as a rare female trial lawyer in the 1980s and 90’s, what she loves about law (and the gray area lawyers get to explore), and who her greatest influences have been over the course of her career. In the profile Ophelia also describes how she has dealt with adversity during trial, the significant role of family in her life, and why she spends much of her time now mentoring the next generation of trial lawyers.

Ophelia has previously been recognized as both a Leading Litigator and Top Plaintiff Financial Lawyer by Lawdragon and one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Texas and Top 100 Lawyers in Dallas by Texas Law & Politics Magazine. Her work has previously been included in the Texas Verdicts Hall of Fame and Lawdragon has profiled her as part of their Lawyer Limelight series.
