Rohit Nath Named a Top Intellectual Property Lawyer by The Daily Journal

Partner Rohit Nath has been named a 2025 Top Intellectual Property Lawyer in California by the Daily Journal. As recognized by the Daily Journal Nath has, “built a decade-long career at the intersection of technology and law, focusing on cases that shape entire industries”

Nath is currently representing book authors in a proposed class action against Anthropic that alleges Anthropic committed copyright infringement in its artificial intelligence systems. In a separate case, he is representing the Authors Guild and group of Pulitzer-winning writers against OpenAI and Microsoft, alleging that the companies used copyrighted materials from nonfiction authors without permission to “train” several versions of the AI chatbot ChatGPT.

In 2023 and 2024 Nath represented authors of higher education textbooks for failure to pay royalties owed on their contracts when those texts were offered on the company’s online platforms. In 2024 he and his team secured a non-reversionary settlement of $21 million approved by the court for damages.
