LOS ANGELES (Feb. 16, 2015) — Three attorneys with boutique litigation firm Susman Godfrey have been selected to the 2015 Southern California Super Lawyers list: Marc M. Seltzer, Steven G. Sklaver and Kathryn P. Hoek.
Each year, no more than five percent of lawyers in the state are selected by the Super Lawyers research team to receive this honor. Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, rates outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area.
Seltzer, Sklaver and Hoek have all been named to the list previously. The founder of the firm’s Los Angeles office, this is Seltzer’s 12th consecutive year on the list. He specializes in the prosecution and defense of complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on antitrust and securities fraud cases. Seltzer is best known for his class action work, appointed to serve as lead counsel or co-lead counsel in numerous high-profile class actions over the years.
Sklaver was named to the list for the sixth consecutive year. A partner in the Los Angeles office, Sklaver handles a wide variety of complicated, high-stakes commercial disputes and class actions for plaintiffs and defendants. Sklaver has tried complex commercial and class action disputes — including jury trials and bench trials in federal and state court — as well as arbitrations.
This marks Hoek’s second consecutive year named to the list after six consecutive years being named to Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars list. In addition to being a partner in the Los Angeles office, she is a member of the firm’s Practice Development Committee. Hoek has represented plaintiffs and defendants in a broad range of business litigation matters, including antitrust cases, patent and other intellectual property matters, employment and wage and hour litigation, class actions, insurance cases and securities litigation.
The Rising Stars list for Southern California will be announced in June.
