Susman Godfrey Secures Federal Circuit Affirmance of $37.5 Million Wi-Fi Patent Verdict for Atlas Global

Susman Godfrey has secured another victory for Atlas Global Technologies, successfully defending a $37.5 million patent infringement verdict before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

On June 9, 2026, two days after oral argument by partner Joe Grinstein, the Federal Circuit affirmed the judgment entered in Atlas Global Technologies LLC v. TP-Link Technologies Co., Ltd. The judgment follows a Texas jury’s 2023 verdict that TP-Link infringed Atlas patents covering key Wi-Fi 6 technologies.

The appellate victory preserves a jury award of $37,481,264 obtained by Susman Godfrey after a five-day trial in the Eastern District of Texas. In September 2023, the jury found that TP-Link infringed Atlas patents relating to wireless networking technology used in Wi-Fi 6-compliant products and awarded Atlas the full amount of damages sought at trial.

Grinstein, who tried the underlying district court action that obtained the successful verdict and argued before the Federal Circuit said: “The inventors of these patents were responsible for key innovations central to Wi-Fi 6, and the jury’s verdict reflected the value of those contributions. We are pleased that the Federal Circuit affirmed the judgment and brought this long-running dispute to a successful conclusion for our client.”

The Federal Circuit’s affirmance marks the latest chapter in a years-long litigation involving Atlas’s portfolio of patents covering technologies incorporated into the Wi-Fi 6 standard. By affirming the district court’s judgment, the Federal Circuit preserved Atlas’s complete trial victory and the substantial damages award entered in its favor.

Notably, the Federal Circuit issued its judgment just two days after oral argument, an unusually swift resolution that brought a quick end to TP-Link’s challenge to the verdict.

Grinstein was joined on the matter by partners Max Tribble, Alejandra Salinas, Alexander Aiken and Kalpana Srinivasan. Co-counsel included Partners Eric Enger, Mike Heim, Alden Harris and Blaine Larson from Heim, Payne & Chorush, Partners Johnny Ward and Andrea Fair of Ward Smith & Hill, and Partners Calvin Capshaw and Elizabeth DeRieux from Capshaw DeRieux.

The case is Atlas Global Technologies LLC v. TP-Link Technologies Co., Ltd., Nos. 25-1039 and 25-1076 (Fed. Cir.).
