EXPERIENCE
Justin Nelson's practice includes intellectual property, antitrust, and commercial litigation. His clients have included Amazon.com, where he defended the company in the "shopping cart" patent infringement case; Fractus, S.A., where he represents the company in its patent infringement suit against major cell phone manufacturers; Kentucky Speedway, who sued Nascar for antitrust violations; and the Equity Committee of Washington Mutual in its bankruptcy action. He also has represented Intellectual Ventures and Ignition Partners, among others. Mr. Nelson also represents Interval in its patent infringement lawsuit. See stories about the article here and here. A large part of Mr. Nelson's practice is going to trial, preparing for trial, and arguing key motions. In addition, he has represented various parties as amici in the Supreme Court of the United States, in cases ranging from intellectual property to antitrust to election law. Mr. Nelson also has practiced First Amendment law on behalf of various media companies. He is an Adjunct Professor at Seattle University Law School, where he teaches an Advanced Constitutional Law course on the Law of the Political Process. He is licensed in the District of Columbia, and the States of Texas and Washington.
