James Southwick Named to Board of Advisors at Syracuse University College of Law

Syracuse University College of Law has just announced that Houston Partner, James Southwick, has joined their Board of Advisors. The appointment underscores the College’s commitment to reflect the diverse talent and leadership represented by its alumni community.

Southwick has secured significant wins for Susman Godfrey and its clients, including negotiating a $244 million settlement for a class of plaintiffs in the nationally followed antitrust action Dial Corporation et el v. News Corp. and a $148 million judgment for plaintiffs in Animal Science Products Inc. et al. v. Hebei Welcome Pharmaceutical, leading to the landmark ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2018.

Southwick has been appointed along with three other new advisors who bring expertise in entertainment law, complex commercial litigation, business and employment law, environmental law, commercial financing, and private equity.

“Our Advisors are successful, engaged, and dynamic alumni who provide essential advice in support of our mission and our students,” said Dean Craig M. Boise. “The perspectives and experiences of Stephanie, Jim, Suzanne, and Antonio are an invaluable addition to the Board. I look forward to working with them closely as we develop and execute our future plans and prepare our students for their careers.”
