Law360 has named Susman Godfrey partners Justin Nelson and Joe Grinstein to its 2026 class of MVPs. The annual awards recognize attorneys for standout achievements in their fields over the past year.
Among other accomplishments this year, Nelson served as co-lead counsel for a nationwide class of authors in Bartz v. Anthropic, securing a landmark $1.5 billion copyright settlement that received final court approval this year. He is now leading litigation in several high-profile AI cases, including In re: OpenAI where he was selected by the court to serve as interim lead class counsel. He also led the team representing ParTec in its settlement against Microsoft.
Among several technology-focused litigation wins, in 2026 Grinstein argued successfully before the Federal Circuit on behalf of Atlas Global Technologies, securing affirmance of a $37.5 million jury award in a dispute over Wi-Fi patents. He also helped win a $175 million jury verdict for technology company HouseCanary against Amrock Inc in a complex trade secrets trial.
Law360 will publish individual profiles of Nelson and Grinstein in the coming weeks.
