Susman Godfrey has received the Specialty/Boutique Litigation Department of the Year award for 2023 from The American Lawyer. Honorees were announced during the The American Lawyer Industry Awards gala event in New York on November 14, which recognizes “the profession’s finest.” This is the second time in five years Susman Godfrey has been recognized with this distinction.
“This is an important honor, and it is thanks to the hard work and dedication of every lawyer and staff member at the firm, said co-Managing Partner Kalpana Srinivasan, who went on to say, “This is especially rewarding coming at the end of the busiest trial year in firm history.” Co-Managing Partner, Vineet Bhatia, added, “We are both thrilled and proud to receive this recognition from one of the most respected publications for the U.S. legal industry.”
In giving the award to Susman Godfrey, The American Lawyer recognizes several recent high-profile successes and representations for the firm. This includes $787.5 million settlement to resolve Dominion’s massive defamation suit against Fox News, a favorable award for Flutter Entertainment PLC in a multi-billion dollar arbitration against Fox Corporation, a $166.3 million jury verdict on behalf of client Finesse Wireless after a patent infringement trial against AT&T and Nokia, and a $203 million win on behalf of New York hedge fund legend, Louis Bacon, in his high-profile defamation lawsuit against Canadian fashion magnate Peter Nygard.
