Susman Godfrey Secures Top Verdicts of 2025 Recognition from the Los Angeles Daily Journal

Susman Godfrey has been recognized by the Los Angeles Daily Journal as a recipient of its Top Verdicts of 2025 honor, spotlighting the firm’s $425 million jury verdict in Rodriguez et al. v. Google LLC et al., a landmark privacy class action that delivered meaningful relief to millions of consumers.

The Daily Journal highlighted the verdict as one of the year’s most significant outcomes, underscoring Susman Godfrey’s continued leadership in high-stakes, trial-driven litigation. The case centered on allegations that Google collected user data even after individuals turned off certain privacy settings. After years of hard-fought litigation, a jury returned a $425 million verdict in favor of the plaintiff class.

“This recognition reflects what drives our firm every day—relentless preparation for trial and an unwavering focus on results,” said Susman Godfrey partner Amanda Bonn, who co-led the matter. “From the outset, we litigated this case the way we try every case: as if a jury would ultimately decide it.”

The Daily Journal noted the case’s procedural and legal significance, including the Northern District of California’s certification of a nationwide privacy class and the court’s rejection of Google’s summary judgment bid in 2025, which cleared the path to trial. The litigation was marked by intensive discovery, novel privacy questions, and coordinated trial strategy among co-lead counsel.

Susman Godfrey’s trial team was co-led by Bonn and Bill Carmody. Carmody and Bonn were joined by partners Shawn Rabin and Steven Shepard and associates Alexander Frawley and Ryan Sila. The Daily Journal profile also featured Sila and Frawley, who described the case as a career-defining opportunity and highlighted the firm’s hallmark model of giving associates meaningful, front-line responsibility in high-stakes litigation.

The Top Verdicts recognition adds to Susman Godfrey’s long record of courtroom wins in complex commercial and technology disputes. As the firm continues to try and win the country’s most consequential cases, the Daily Journal’s honor reinforces Susman Godfrey’s position at the forefront of high-impact trial work.
